TE WHARE TAONGA O TE AWAMUTU

As part of the reopening of the Te Whare Taonga o Te Awamutu (Te Awamutu Museum), Butter was tasked with creating four video artefacts that captured the rich history of local iwi Ngāti Hikairo. 

This was a hapū iwi led digital exhibition acknowledging the past, present and future of the pā encompassing Mātakitaki and the tangata whenua who generationally occupied the land. 

The preservation of whakapapa and ancestral stories through visual storytelling - is a privilege, made even more special as Butter founder Andy and his tuakana, Simon, who led the production are hapū iwi members.

At the museum’s opening in October this year, the honorary Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po, watched these taonga (gentle flex).
